How can I fix my family's computer using remote access?

by admin on December 29, 2009

I am the unofficial computer tech for my family, and I would solve any problems that happened to our computer. Now I am away at college, and if something happens I want to fix it using remote access, instead of doing it over the phone. Is there a way to do this? My family has Windows XP Home, and I have Vista 64 bit. Also, how do you do this Vista to Vista (to help my grandmother)?

it will depend on the problem, but you can remote to their computer using GoToMyPc is free. the only thing you have to do is install the client on their computer and that all. I used all the time. work great. no need to remember IP or anything like that. hope this help

I use team viewer to help out my parents. You don’t need to install it, there’s an option to run it without installing it and that’s how I do it. I don’t want to install it in case it leaves a service running and compromising security.
