Hotmail is following in the footsteps of Google’s Gmail and adds a feature that makes it possible to use e-mail accounts from other hosts on hotmail’s platform. So now you can manage all your e-mail accounts from hotmail.com. Ironically, this feature has always been a part of Microsoft’s Outlook Express, but not included in the online version until recently.
The feature is based on POP3 and whatever changes you make on Hotmail.com doesn’t influence what happens on the original e-mail account. Still, it is useful to send and receive mails when you are not at home and to take advantage of Hotmail’s spam filter and media sharing system.
